Repeat Prescriptions

As from Wednesday 6th February 2020 the practice will no longer accept the right hand side of the prescription to request medications.

You may obtain repeat prescriptions (if your doctor agrees) in the following ways:

  • Telephone the surgery Monday to Friday to place a request on the prescription line. Please ensure you know what items you are needing to order.
  • You can now also order repeat prescriptions online. Follow the link at the top of this page to complete a simple registration.Repeat prescriptions can be taken by the patients to any pharmacy. Our local pharmacies do offer to collect prescriptions from the surgery but this must be requested by the patient.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

CBC Health's Pharmicus division have been working with Grange Road Medical Practice, to develop a bespoke service for the Practice. As a Practice we have always had a Pharmacist and Technician working in the practice. All of CBC Health's pharmacists and technicians are fully trained and all pharmacists are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

We have been working behind the scenes to develop a full prescribing support service to Grange Roads clinicians and patients. This team will action all medication changes requested by secondary care, and will support the clinicians in dealing with any prescription queries that are raised by patients and pharmacies. This could result in a call from a member of CBC's Pharmicus team, please support them as you would the clinicians at Grange Road. The pharmicus team are based at CBC Health's head office at Queens park, Team Valley, Gateshead. The Pharmicus team are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as all staff at Grange Road.

If you have any queries with regards to this new service please contact Julie Spence at
